Door panel rust

Featured Replies

Just after some advice regarding rust on a rear passenger door.  On the door above the handle there is a panel which has got rust on it. - I have attached photos.

I am just wondering if these panels are changeable  - I had a little look and it may be possible. If they are changeable do you think you can get them from the Skoda dealers?

If it is not possible have members got any ideas on the best way to treat it.

Any advice would be gladly received.

Cheers

I would rub away the rust and paint it with some rust treatment and then repaint. Looking at mine it looks such a difficult place to reach as corrosion is under the rubber trim.

Thank you for your advice, I plan to rub it back at touch up with a bit of Hammerite - hopefully that will do the trick.

My black 2013 Skoda Roomster has developed rust on the exact same panel on both sides. The dealer had, as expected, never seen rust there before. But clearly that panel has a weakness. Apparantly the cost of the panel is not too much, around £35. What did you do in the end to sort it out? And incidentally,  how old is your car?

?

Who at the dealer has never seen it before, someone that never buys cars at auction or checks cars for trade ins or have never done valeting or worked in a bodyshop.

They can easily say ' never seen before' if the are 'Tommy.'  Well Tommy can not seeing as dumb, as well as deaf and blind.

I know, it sounded more like a practiced fobbing off rather than an insightful comment from a knowledgeable dealer.

Dealerships, staff and Principal Dealer.

What was the Job Title of the person that looked at your car and did you ask their Qualifications in the Motor Trade.

The person should have got their Warranty Manager out and taken pictures and then got someone Qualified in Vehicle Bodywork to inspect it,

it is pretty basic stuff, this is the job these employees do full time.
