DRL's & Unlocking

Featured Replies

Hiya,

I maybe going completely bonkers but for some unbeknown reason when I unlock my car the DRL's do not come on any more, which is strange.

Once the engine is started, they then do.!!

I am puzzled, I have tinkered with all the lighting controls and have factory reset and re-applied but still nothing.

Now I am beginning to doubt myself if they ever came on when unlocking in the first place.

They only come on once the ignition has been turned on.

The ‘leaving home’ lights would come on if you have them turned on.

Thanks Gizmo,

They very well maybe the 'Leaving Home Lights'.. my bad..

I just checked and currently turned on within the menu with a value of 20seconds

The lights are still unlit at unlocking until i turn the ignition on, car i parked in the garage currently so can't even be some sort of light ambience sensor

Lights are set to Auto; I take the 'Leaving Home Lights' are the parking lights ? , I've turned the dial to this and they come on

Might do a master rest of the system instead of just a menu reset to see if it makes a difference.

i've coded my CH/LH to use the foglights instead of the lowbeams.

so now, when i unlock the car, both the DRLs and foglights turn on, as per LH.
likewise when i open the door to hop out, as per CH function.

provided the light switch is on "auto", and the lighting conditions are right.

@Zenbasses FYI there is an ambient light sensor (mounted in the back of the rear view mirror).

@JR RS has it right re the conditions for CH/LH lights to work.

In the manual (p77 of my pdf version) it says:

image.png.b9df42b49d9a0010bbe510bb7b7b5bf2.png

So there are four things to check:

1. CH / LH is set in the infotainment (which you've done).

2. Lights are set to auto

3. Outside has "poorer visibility" (which is obviously subjective)

4. The sensor in the back of the rear-view mirror isn't obscured / covered / damaged.

You might also want to check whether you have set up CH/LH in the personalisation for one key but not another? (Just a thought if you have different profiles set up in the car).

what is CH/LH? :)

Coming home / leaving home.

Thanks All,

What I plan to do is tonight when it gets a lot dimmer is I'll try all the above and see what results it brings.

Its a good point about the Key as well, I always use the black plastic one which covered in a key cover, however my partner took mine the other week and used the 'posh' key and said she had reset a lot of stuff because it moved... I don't think she understood the concept we usually just use the 1 key and she presses M2 to change the seats and mirrors

Lets she what happens
