Non-continuous vibrations on idle

Featured Replies

Hi i own a Fabia 1.2 Tsi 2016 manual, currently 42K Km, serviced every 8 km, Stage 1 revo software.

Recenctly  the car start to shake on idle when the air is off, when it`s on there is no odd shakes.

I thougt the  spark-plugs were bad, so i changed it, and the sakes has continue.

The next thing i did is  taking the car to severals garages and they all said, that it`s normal for this motors.

The clutch feels great, there is no oil/water consumption, no errors of any kind on the car computer.

my car is also doing the same noise on cold start`s

any ideas?

So several garages say it is normal but do they take into account the Revo 1 software change? Also why has it only recently started to happen? Have you changed anything that might have caused it? Also do you mean that it happens when you turn the air conditioning off? Try replacing the cabin filter (also called a "Pollen" filter). If this is blocked it has an impact on the air conditioning system.

I'm guessing that the extra load on the engine when the A/C is switched on is increasing the idle  speed or fuelling conditions and so masking this issue, hat it is I can't say.

Rum4mo am I right in that the air-con compressor will be the variable displacement type and that these are running constantly even when OFF? If so will there be an increase in engine load when the air-con is switched ON? I thought all that happened was that the displacement increased with no switching on/off?

Oh yes, the demand on the compressor will increase and that work must come from the engine, just like when the continuously connected alternator is running with little demand for its output - then you switch many loads on, you notice the engine load increasing.

So a blocked cabin filter would increase this load due to the air-con trying to suck air through the blockage?

yes they were all aware of the revo software.

the weird vibration occures when the air condition is off, when the engines is reving at 900, belows 1000.

the vibrations comings like 10secs,20,30,40,vibrate and contiunues...

i will check the Pollen filter,

Tnq you all for your quick respones, i will update soon.

The air con compressor has nothing directly to do with the air blown through the pollen filter. A blocked pollen filter would cause reduced load on the blower, and a reduced load on the compressor due to lack of airflow over the evaporator.

You can normally feel if the pollen filter is badly blocked.

How i can feel it?

I would not think so as it is only the circulating cabin fan motor, what might happen there would be more like a hedgehog type speed controller getting a bit too hot and failing.

A couple of maybe way out ideas, first idea/thoughts is that it is some form of cyclic engine idle speed correction, or you are hearing some form of cyclic harmonic beating as 2 engine parts/ancillaries come into synchronisation then go out again.

What was the servicing every 8km (is that 8,000 km) Oil & Filter.  what about the Air Filter?

I would think about the Ignition Coils for the issue you have now.

?

What were the plugs like when removed, and what are in now and with what gap?

Well if you put your hand in front of the vents with the blower on full and there is hardly anything coming out the pollen filter is bad.

They have to be in a very long time to get that bad usually

there is'nt any irregular noise coming from anywhere when the vibrate occures,

mayb i should post a video, what kind of angles you think i should it happeing?

Am replacing all of the filters in every service the current filters is 7 months old and have done a 6k km.

i thought it was somthing to do with the plugs or the coils, but the scan at garage was showing 0 missfires.

the pulgs were look fine according to the mechanic.

0 misfires can be logged as a Misfire Fault code if enough misfires occur in a cycle.

But then those qualified technicians you spoke to should know that.

So was the spark plug gap when the plugs removed as they would have been new.

What octane fuel does your Stage 1 1.2 TSI run on where you are?

am using 95 octne, macthing the remap requirement.

REVO must have a different Stage 1 to suit using 95 ron in your country rather than the 98 ron that they show.

This was an issue in the past where when asked about the UK having 97 or 99 octane super unleaded they said that 95 was OK just not giving the same performance gain.

I would try Super Unleaded and see if the car behaves the same.
