Buying at end of PCH

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm coming to then end of my 2 year PCH agreement and wanted some advice if possible.

I have a Business Grey 1.2tsi DSG SE 66 plate on a good 2016 rate lease deal when they were available. Car is coming up to 16000 miles now and I’ve had a buy price of £13050.

I'm tempted to buy as the car is great but just wondered if this was reasonable?

Extending the lease by another year was over double the monthly cost I’m paying now so not an option.

Just after your thoughts?

Many thanks.

Have you done some interweb price comparisons?

Exactly.

It seems a bit over the odds to me for an SE spec vehicle no longer produced.

Had a look on auto trader etc and it seems reasonable, knowing the car as well.

Just after some views really.

Don't forget that it needs to be 'someone else' that buys the car as you won't be able to.

You now are able to buy it yourself, they seem to have changed the rules.

i was initially told it had to be non family but I can now apparently,

Looked at auto trader and similar cars SE spec DSG under 20k miles are advertised at about £13700 -£14500

Mine is almost identical, done 17k miles, now 21 months old so in same situation (haven't yet asked for a price)

I'm only paying £128 per month

The way I see it,  it cost about £20.5k new (assuming metallic), so you are buying at £13k which is a discount of £7.5k

Probably paid out £4.5k over the 2 years, so you have effectively got a £3k discount (£7.5k- 4.5k)

If you buy it now not really saved anything (as could of got £2-3k off new 2 years ago anyway)

There is obvious question, if you pay out say £250 per month for next 12 months, spending extra £3k

then in years time,  value uncertain, but £3k lower at around £10-11k to buy is not unreasonable

So the question is do you want to change now, or in a years time, or keep for many years

I have made my decision, which is basically same decision as you have to make

I ordered new car (an Arona), got big discount through broker (buying not lease), but delivery is now delayed to about Nov-Dec

But delay is not a problem as VW financial (my PCH Co) has offered 3 extra months at same monthly rate

and they will allow another 3 months (months 4-6) at same rate with a VW group car order number

However I will have to do second service, so need to spend about £170, but potentially I get upto 6 months extra at same monthly

Of course if you cannot afford the £13k, or don't really want to keep the car, then that option is dead anyway.

Hope this helps focus your ideas

Many thanks for the reply, I’m really thinking of keeping for at least a few years as nothing really appeals at the moment and the deals of 2016 don’t seem to be around now. I’m paying £110 a month at present.

The price seems competitive really at least to me.

Seems possible that you've answered your own question!   I hope you'll go on being very happy together

There's no harm in asking if they  have a bottom line price they would be happy to accept. If they say no and you are happy with the price and car, then accept.

If they offer a lower price, winner.

I always ask for either money off, or have something thrown in. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't. When buying my Honda Civic I asked for 6 months VED, to be included in the price. They refused, but fitted front and rear mud flaps and threw in a full set of floor mats which cost double the VED.

Yeti 2.0l diesel se 64 plate in a dealers near me £12995 My Yeti that i traded in got £14,750 1.2 se drive 17 plate on sale £16,000. So your offer sounds reasonable

You know this car, that's worth something. If you like it, buy it
