Looking at superb hatch or estate for me next cab looking at getting a dsg but which one 1.6 or 2.0 suggestions please any probs with the dsg never had one before thanks

Personally i would have a dsg, but everyone is different i have had 3 cars with dsg and wont go manual again.  But i would recommend you trying it to see if you like it yourself.

I think it's a question of "horses for courses" but personally I find DSG a bit clumsy during slow speed urban driving especially in combination with stop-start.  I would prefer a conventional automatic if such an option existed.  DSG has been reliable so far though.

Would not personally buy Superb without DSG.

And it seems that DSG works best with petrol engines.

Yes i agree, ive had 2 diesel dsg's a vw jetta and a diesel mk2 fl octi vrs, both were good, but i now have a superb sportlinr 2.0tsi 220 with dsg and its way better. Car drives like a dream.  Stop start can be annoying but i deactivate it most of the time

I would have a DSG any day of the week and if you are using it as a taxi with lots of urban driving then it's so much more pleasant than needing to makebconstant manual gear changes. If you want fuel economy there is little difference in mpg between 1.6 and the 150 bhp 2.0 diesel.  The bigger diseel engine also gives you more speed and power so good for motorways. However don't choose the 187 bhp diesel.

Welcome Spike1963,

Are you looking at a new car or used?

I would give the 1.6TDI a miss with the 7 Speed Twin Dry Clutch DSG with no DSG servicing schedule for use as a taxi.

Best go with the 2.0TDI IMO and the 6 speed wet clutch DSG even though a oil change is required with the DSG every 40,000 miles.

Another thing to consider - when I was looking at second hand Superbs, the 1.6 diesels were considerably cheaper than the equivalent 2.0.  You will have weigh up whether or not it is worth paying the few thousand more for the 2.0.  Might not be necessary for urban driving.

Cheaper really for a reason. Markets set values,

and as for Asking Prices that is not always 'What you have to pay prices'.

But for a Taxi and urban driving which location is rather important and just what any restrictions might come in on emissions locally for Taxi's in the near future.
