Service

Featured Replies

Hi all, its been a while since i posted. I’ve loved my S3 and have accumulated 40,000 miles. Ive now got a new car so this one is going back. I have to get it serviced first.

I have just been quoted £339!!! I expect to pay a decent amount at a dealer but find this staggering for some oil and filters!

Any reccomendations on independants near Huddersfield or Halifax that can log the service correctly on Skodas online system?

Does your T&C's say it needs logged on the Skoda / VW Service Records Online?

When was it serviced last, and has it only had 1 service because on Variable / Flexible Servicing?

?

How much was the last service that was done?

Quoted £339 to have what done?

Obviously not just an Oil / Filter, Sump Plug, Pollen Filter, Look see & report and free wash and vacuum.

So are they saying a Major Service, which is just a Minor / Interim Service really but done as a 'Variable Service'.

Are they replacing the Pollen Filter, Air Filter, doing the Brake Fluid change if 3 years old?

I take it not a DSG so not getting the DSG Serviced?

It was last serviced at 19,000 miles.

Can I in theory get any garage to service it as long as manufacture spec parts and oil are used?

It is a manual 2.0 150 bhp

If your terms and conditions allow Servicing to Manufacturers Guidelines then do just that and get the Invoice / receipt,

or as you said in the OP a VW Independent with all the gear and licensed equipment that can put the Service on the System.

Still no idea what the £339 quote is about.

Pith taking because not 3-10 years old!!  Not on Fixed Servicing, yet the Offer is a rip off anyway when there is no guarantee what parts get supplied.

No other garage can get the service data into Skoda system. Only authorized Skoda service partners (where I live I believe those are only the dealers) can service at standards that are accepted by Skoda factory.

Do you need to do the service just for yourself or for some lease company or for new buyer or ..... ? If it is needed for a lease company, then I hardly doubt that they would sadisfy Joe's Garage service.

But 339 pounds sounds a lot. There should be no service that expencive even near 40 000 km. Some extra work maybe that needs to be done?

Different in the UK.  There are Independents with Ex VW Group employees with all the Gear and more than an Idea,  Licensed Equipment, TPI's /Service Campaign Information and access to the VW Group Servicing.

Actually more likely to do the work to Manufacturers Guidelines than the Official Dealers or Repairers that are very 'tick happy' in some establishments.

Wow, most odd:blink:

But then again, lots of Skoda stuff is different in UK than I have used to. And I do not mean that the steering wheel is on the WRONG side:rofl:

The thing is there is a contract that those leasing vehicles enter into, so that is what needs checked, and then if there are restrictive conditions that are non competitive that would allow 'Official VW Group Main Dealers' to take the mick out of those having to use their services at inflated prices.

Even charging for parts not actually provided, then taking 20% VAT for parts not provided.

The leasing vechicles in UK is somthing from other planet for me. It seems more like a full service rental than a lease that I am used to.

But yes, you are right, one should first read the contract. Everything is allowed that is allowed by contract.

If your car has DSG then the oil needs changing at 40K .  Skoda charge in the region of £180.00 for that alone.  Not a DIY job.
