Diagnostics Lab

Featured Replies

Hi

I would like to ask a more generic question concerning the diagnose of various car makes.

From my understanding, there is no universal diagnose tool capable of reading/writing all specific values for all specific modules of all car makes of all years, or if it is the price is prohibitive.

The best approach would be to buy several OBD, OBD2, KL, KKL interfaces and their associated software capable of communicating using all protocols with the specific ECUs.

So my question is: what is the minimum list of interfaces/software/accessories that could allow me to have my own car diagnostics lab to cover the majority of car makes?

I have a diagnotic tool called (Gscan II)

It came with three cables fitting most of diagnostic terminals. There are so many types of cars and trucks programs on it. A CD for teaching.

Also I have an oscilloscope, an avometer, sound detector and a test lamp. That is always enough for me.

Also one day before I had two laptop programs called (all data, auto data) they gather a treasure of information

I've seen it is more oriented to Asian vehicles.

On the other hand, AUTEL MaxiSys Elite is another gem but pricey. For now I'm looking for Bluetooth adapters plus Android software that could cover most cars in depth, not just generic.
