Goodbye Superb

Featured Replies

Good luck with the 3008.  I’ve a feeling you’ll be back again someday!

Thanks for the review.

Interesting. I came to Škoda based on reviews and I think my car is terrific. That said, a new Peugeot 508 Coupé is on my radar. (I always liked the looks of the 406 coupé.) I've never owned a French car, but my friend (who just traded in his Peugeot for a Fabia) said he'd never own another French car, either.

Happy trails.

Just changed my leased 2015 S3 L&K 190 DSG 4x4 Estate for a leased 2018 BMW 220xDrive Gran Tourer with the same bhp.  Better economy already, much much better gearbox which doesn’t hesitate or think about what gear it wants, Start/Stop only kicks in after the car stops.  Instant pickup power wise (no doubt helped by the twin turbo arrangement), much quieter and far smoother ride with no clonks over every bump (it has adaptive suspension as well as the S3) or harmonic buzz from the dash.

I’ve had 4 Škodas over the years, but the S3 will be the last.  They just aren’t as well made as they were for that price point, and Dealer support is well below what I was used to from the brand.  I think the cars are too complex for the Dealers to cope with.  Shame really but such is the market.

Interesting and enjoyable read.

I think you’ll find the build quality of a Peugeot much more of a cheaper feel than the superb.

Ive had Pugs, Renaults and Citroen’s over the years and each one has been a dog.

Especially with electrical gremlins.

You might just become very friendly with the service department at Peugeot.

I ended up on their Christmas do! :D

The car flagged itself up for an oil change at 9800 miles. Local dealer carried out the service for £149 which I thought was steep for just oil and filter! The car then flagged up again at 22400 miles for an oil change which I thought would be the major service. Booked the car in at the same dealer for the major service only to be told when I collected it that they had plugged their computer into it and it only needed an oil and filter change and the pollen filter replaced - all for £159. A nice surprise but I was worried the lease company would not take too kindly to this, however, the workshop manager explained the car was set to variable servicing from new and the lease company would be satisfied with that. I got him to put it in writing and mentioned it to the BCA inspector who came to scrutinise the car today.  He was happy and said if the car was set to variable servicing then the dealer can only go with what their system says!

Something a miss there. If the car was set to variable, it wouldn't need its first service until close to 20,000 miles or 2 years.

Asking for a service at 10,000 miles suggests the car was set to fixed.

The fact you've had two oil changes in 2 years / 25,000 miles means you've been over-charged to the sum of £150.

The guy from BCA should have been overjoyed, as will it's next owner.
