Air conditioning problem : VCDS diagnostic

Featured Replies

Folks,

I have a problem with my air conditioning that does not cool down anymore...

I made a VCDS scan (the target temperature was 18°C, and room temperature was 30°C). Here are the results :

Adresse 08: Climatronic  ()

  800 /min  Engine Speed
  0.0 km/h  Vehicle Speed
  0.825 A   Compressor Current (actual)
  0.820 A   Compressor Current (specified)
  1000 /min   Compressor Rotations
  4.3 Nm   Compressor Load
  9.6 bar   Coolant Pressure
27.6 %   Radiator Fan Activation (actual)
  34.0°C   Outside Temp. Unfiltered
  30.5°C   Outside Temp. Regulation
  39.5°C   Fresh Air Intake Temperature
  72.0°C   Coolant Temperature
  38.0°C   Evaporator Temperature
  35.0°C   Interior Temperature

The gas fill-up was made last year.

Can it be the compressor that is going bad? What about a problem with the expansion valve?

How to be sure of the diagnostic?

Thanks a lot for your help.
Arnaud

Sounds like you compressor is goosed, mine was same reading and that did not work, N280 valve is not working hence no torque from compressor.

Thank you very much for your answers.

I found a VCDS scan on the web of a fully working AC :

1500 /min Engine Speed

0.820 A Compressor Current (specified)

1900 /min Compressor Speed

7.5 Nm Compressor Load

18.0 bar Coolant Pressure

39.5°C Outside Temp. (unfiltered)

93.0°C Coolant Temperature

12.0°C Outlet Blower Temperature

10.0°C Evaporator Temperature

ON Fan/Blower Status

The compressor load is indeed almost twice as mine.

What I cannot understand is how the AC cannot work when coolant pressure is 9.6 bar. Should I also suspect the expanssion valve?

Thanks again for your help,

Arnaud

Hi Arnaud,

You're welcome.

It's got nothing to do with the pressure switch as such, it's the N280 valve on the end of the compressor that goes, unless you have a compressor other than a Nippon Denso, you cannot change just the valve, if you have a Nippon Denso, you need to have it de gassed change the valve held in with a circlip, and regass  and your good to go.

Hope this helps,

@arnaudmar I am in the same position as you, did you figure out what was wrong with your AC? Thanks.
