Electric tailgate stuck (sometimes)

Featured Replies

Dear fellow Skoda drivers,

My name is Michel and I own a 2012 Skoda Superb Combi (1.6TDI) with KESSY system.

The electric tailgate stopped working and it seems like it is stuck.. Sometimes it magically works and the boot opens and sometimes it even closes but this happens rarely.

Since it sometimes works I don't think the pistons / arms are broken but maybe it is something else.

Hope you guys can give me some suggestions/ advise.

Kind regards,

Michel

Hi Michel,

Its a reasonably common problem. Try the search function and you'll find lots of posts about it.

Cheers

Matt

Hi there, I had the same problem with mine. It worked intermittently, was diagnosed as the control module which was, thankfully, replaced under warranty. Been working perfectly since. Unfortunately I don't think the unit is cheap and there is quite a lot of labour involved in replacing it.

The actuators have been modified, they will end up going open circuit, latest actuators end in a C, new software update for the modified ones too.

So this means an software update would do the trick?

FYI, You dealer may 'come to the party' with regards to costs, especially given this is a common issue. When ours struts were replaced we were charged the trade cost of the parts, and labour.

Still expensive, but worth asking them for a discount.
