All I know is he could press the new one in and couldn't the old one .

I'm just going to run it and see .this carboned up pick up pipe might help

My garage says the old tentioner is on a ratchet mech and cannot go back in .as for the new type it works on oil pressure .he could press it in manually .not like the old one it was solid

The car is back in now having the sump removed and pick up pipe cleaned out .

I'm confident it's just that .....new tensioner is oil pressure fed

It seems they are the real specialists ...

Both designs need and work with the oil pressure, both have a reverse play ... Old one 4mm, new one I guess the same. But the new one will not worn out that fast as the force of the safety spring is spread onto larger area, not that small like on small teeth old design tensioner...

Anyone else got a 2.0 tsi vrs? Anyone elses engine tick all the time? Been told its normal, but its quite a ticky little bugger, even after getting the new tensioner.

Injectors. Perfectly normal.

I have been told its normal, but man it seems super off especially when you have the bonnet up! Thanks mate

Yeah, they're all pretty noisy these days!

Mine makes zero noise on startup. (Touch wood!)

What kind of noise should I look for?  And how long does  it lasts Cheers
