Hi
Longstanding Skoda owner and briskoda-ist, just put a deposit on a nearly new Citygo for the wife.

Been on here since probably 2006 or earlier with a 52 plate 1.4mpi, then 06 vRS BLT ( still got), then 09 Fabia HTP (hers - outgoing) and then Octy 2014 220 vRS ( still got).

Its a 2017, red colour edition with about 5k :) On plus to the Montes and mk2 vRS I originally considered for her, this still have balance of warranty.....
Completely new to the Citygo fold, wonder what we have let ourselves in for....:D

Mrs G has an 18 plate colour edition CitiGo, 60 bhp. Drives like a Go kart.  Needs to be driven ( quite hard ) for the fun factor, absolute hoot.............Enjoy

Maybe a CHHB engine transplant would do :D

You'll not get much bad news here; they're utterly brilliant little cars. Not hugely fast, but involving and fun with good ride, comfort and astonishing amounts of space. And pretty much run on fresh air if you can show restraint (as the 500, 600 and now astonishing 700 miles on a tankful threads attest)

The lad keeps talking about selling his to get an old Golf GTi or similar, and it's only with the wisdom of age that I know that would be a big mistake.

Hahaha as a "OLD" Golf GTi owner ( 1.6 GTI mk1) I can attune it would be a VERY big mistake taken from me.

( let me recall, rusted fuel tank fouling injectors constantly, big patches of rot or rust in some places, driveshafts, very dated and tried interior etc etc,).

Nostalgia.....yeah high into the 11s.....everyday ownership = 0. A lot of standard cars are now 16v/turbo'd etc and as good if not better :D

I bought a 'Colours' Citigo new in 07/2016.  Lovely little car and much more torque than my 120k mile Toyota Aygo (new 06/2008).  It also warms up very quickly which is good on short/winter journeys.  I live in Marown (IoM) so no motorways, but if you stay under 3000 r/min you will easily exceed 60mpg.  Currently recorded 32540 miles using 2115 litres of fuel (61mpg). Wear and tear of 2 front tyres at 29600 miles with another 2mm left on the rears. The only downside to date is a grumbling transmission, which though perfectly serviceable, is a tad noisier than I would expect off VAG.  Enjoy the car.
