I am about to order a MkIII estate. I gather that the Canton system fits into the passenger side (RHD) boot compartment. Does anyone know the width from that compartment's cover to the outer side of the other compartment with its cover removed?

Can't help on the width of the estate but IIRC the sub for the canton is on the LHD as you look in the boot. Not that it makes any difference in this case 

Not sure if width of hatch is the same i have canton in mine as there is a cover covering the sub, i also have a cover on the right. I guess so it matches.  

Hi, just measured mine, 108cm from the canton cover across to the cover on the drivers side. The depth if the cover on the drivers side is removed would be an additional 14cm.

Are you aware that the compartment doesn't go down to floor level ? (variable floor not fitted)

Yes I am. Do you know if all model year 2019 variants have closed compartments or do some still have the old open bins (which I would prefer) with a removable divider?
