Oil change video

Featured Replies

I read a post recently which had a video/walkthrough of user doing an oil change on a Fabia (VRS?). - they may have used an oil extractor.

I have searched for it but can't find it, anyone have a link to it?

stick the tube in the dipstick hole and suck it out. Not exactly rocket science done it on mine no trouble

Or use a 19mm spanner and drain it out of the sump, job jobbed.

sump plug may strip the threads out or never seal properly again, common on these alloy sumps as plug should be replaced every oil change but they aren't.

I would say that's from over tightening, if done to the correct torque setting and the sump plug replaced then no problem in my eyes.

I work on Rolls Royce and Bentleys and the newer VW stuff (continental GT, Azure etc) with aluminium sumps we change the plug and torque them up with some ptfe fluid on the threads. Only ever has one stripped and it came in that way.

Mine stripped first oil change i did after buying the car, just depends how well the previous owner had it looked after. Id not want to take the risk again if i can help it prefer to just suck the oil out much cleaner and quicker
