torx size

Featured Replies

Hi. I am replacing the shocks on my 05 fabia estate.

Does anyone know the torx size of the lower shock clamp? (where the shock sits)

TIA

Pretty sure its an M14 XZN/triple-square, not a torx. That said, you might get away without needing it, try just undoing the nut at the other end, the bolt head may stay still with corrosion.

Not sure how well you'll get on with the same approach when you go to fit your new bolts/nuts though.

thanks Wino.

The bolt is just spinning.

I will try to get a set of mole grips on it

I'd agree with the type/size that Wino said it was. A slightly annoying size as most kits seem to stop at M12, so normally easier to buy online.

Edit:-  roughly £6 from Motorsport-Tools.

One side stayed still for me the other span so I put mole grips on the end. When it came to refitting the bolt I held it with mole grips again no problems.

always managed with mole grips but would be a bit screwed if it stuck! angle grinder or a sweaty hacksaw time

a bit of penetrating fluid on the nut might help
