Advice on second hand VRS depreciation

I'm down to 5K trade-in on my 2010 VRS....Had a good run though, I bought it when they had a "VAT-free" offer running, plus an afternoon of haggling to effectively get full leather interior for free. Prices have certainly crept up since then!

Where do the second hand prices come from and who dictates these values when you sell/px your vehicle, all prices given now appear to be what you vehicle will fetch at auction so is it BCA dictating all these prices ?

Auctions don't dictate prices, it's the people bidding at auctions that dictate the price. The auction just takes a fee for facilitating the sale.

Isn’t WBAC etc run by BCA who tell you tha value of you vehicle when you get a quote?

Yes if you go through WBAC. But they're taking a risk by buying your car and value it accordingly to make it worth their while when they sell it on.

Send your own car to auction yourself and its value will be dictated by whoever bids on it minus the auction fee.

Hi,

Just to let you know that we offer a product called Total Loss Protection. Whilst it's not exactly the same as your traditional GAP insurance we feel for some customers it can make a cost effective alternative.

Please feel free to take a look if you wish.

I feel you. I paid £21.5k for my VRS @ 4 months old. 3 years later I'll have said goodbye to at least 10k.

The sad truth about car ownership

A VRS245 will lose £15,000 in the first 3 years (36,000 miles) that's why I'm keeping mine. Won't seem so bad over 10 years.

Blimey, if you keep it that long we’ll be hearing tales of daring-do on our roads in a 602bhp monster!!!   ;-)

Steady on Dunc I will be more than happy with a Stinger GTS rivalling 365BHP! No plans to go stage 3 or even hybrid turbo because reliability and economy remain my main priorities, not annoying you one of my biggest fans and I like to correct your frequent mistakes!
