Glow plugs

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Quick question, does anybody know the right glow plug that I need for my 1.9 PD130 engine? I'm not entirely sure of the engine code but I believe it's either ASZ or BLT, probably ASZ

Thanks

Nobody?

Might be worth typing your registration number into somewhere like www.eurocarparts.com

Should give you a headsup on what you are looking for.

The problem I'm having is that, they're all different shapes and sizes. So I'd probably be better off just pulling one of mine out to measure

Thanks anyway

Cheers Wino! , I take it that it's the same for the Polo aswell seeing as they share the same engine? I know it's probably a stupid question, I just wanna be sure

Thanks

That's made life more complicated, maybe!

If it's a 9N 2005 rather than a 9N3 2005, this page shows two different part numbers with slightly different lengths, last and fourth-from-last item 16: https://volkswagen.7zap.com/en/rdw/polo+derby+vento-ind/po/2005-253/9/905-905000/ No idea how you're supposed to know which part number/length to go for. At a guess either will do the job, but I don't know enough to know whether that's a good guess or a dangerous one.

The page for the 9N3 2005 gives the same info, those two different part numbers/lengths quoted for all of the ATD,AXR,ASZ,BLT engines.

The longer thread will push the heating element slightly further into the combustion chamber which may give better starting in cold climates, it doesn't really matter here in the UK.

Okay thanks Wino for all your help and for taking the time to investigate that for me. My Polo would be the 9N all be it a very late one. I'm 100% sure it's either ASZ or BLT and so in reference to what Sepulchrave said about the slightly different lengths not really being a problem then I'm guessing that you've given me the right part number there N10579202.

Thanks again everybody

The engine code is on a sticker in the front of your service book, or if you don't have that there is a copy sticker under the boot carpet.

Here's my code for example...

Cheers for the info TMB, I've concluded that mine is a BLT which really shocked me because I thought my car was too old to be a BLT and would be the ASZ but there you go.

Did you get your glow plugs sorted? If not we should be able to supply them for you.

Cheers,

Hi Guy, no not yet, how much would it be for the whole set? I reckon Bosch might be the best would you say?

Thanks

I will work out a price for you, we do bosch. I know you have a BLT code engine but can you let me know the full model, year etc?

Cheers,

Guy

Thanks for that Guy, I nearly went and paid an extra £20 or so for them. I'l make sure to use the code as well.

Thanks again,

Tom

I have both lengths in my 1.9 Tdi.A couple had failed the first winter I had the car and I got two from a local supplier. When I took the old ones out I found that the new ones were a touch longer.Didn’t seem to make any difference when it was running.Which reminds me they haven’t been checked for a few years I will have to check them out now that the cold mornings are creeping on us.I still have no idea which are the correct ones.

That's reassuring to know because I was concerned about the different lengths but knowing you have both helps so thanks for sharing that!

I don't suppose anybody knows the correct voltage for the plugs though? I think it's 11v

Thanks again

The ones that oilman is offering say they are equivalent to both of the part numbers I found. They will therefore be fine (and also confirms that those two part numbers are freely interchangeable).

Don't worry about the voltage, as long as they're for cars not trucks (24V) they'll do the job.

Thanks Wino for checking that again. I appreciate all the help from you guys :)
