HI, Folks, thanks for letting me join Briskoda.

I bought an Octavia 2014 vrs and totally love it. Sadly the water pump went and needed replacing. All done ok by a local garage, bit the centre ICE has stopped so there is no radio, car info etc.

The engineer never disconnected the battery and was not sure what has happened.  Any ideas folks ?

thanks for any help Chris

Try a reset by holding the radio power button down for ten seconds.

Hi MoggyTech

Thanks for the tip, I tried all combinations of buttons but there is still no life in the radio .

may need a trip to Skoda HQ and plug it in ?

Mine had a software glitch which appears to have been fixed with a firmware update.

however it came on post an overnight wait.

I'm assuming the Entertainment unit stopped working at teh same time you got the car back from the garage?
If this is the case then I guess its too much of a conicidence to be a SW bug or glitch.

My first check would be the fuses.

Hi Gabbo, you assume correctly. It did stop immediately after the garage work. I was a bit too excited after getting the car back to turn/try to turn the radio on straight away. Only noticed once i joined a motorway and too late to turn back.

Ill drop back in to the garage and get the fuses checked. I did have a look under the bonnet to see if there was an obvious blown fuse but it did look ok. Many need to take them out and inspect them more closely.

thanks for the help.

Does it display the clock?

Hi, there is no clock. All dark in the middle.

Fuses behind the Glovebox

  • Author

Hi folks the mystery has been solved. I had no clock/radio/ info center because somehow a fuse disappeared from the fuse box behind the glove box

Basically I had a local garage look at the car as it was overheating, they quoted me £765 for a water pump and cam belt. A little high you may say. So i arranged for another garage who charge sensible prices to pick it up and complete the work, nearly half the price.

It was after the work was completed and when I drove away that i realized that the radio didn't work. When we searched the fuse boxes here was no broken fuse or evidence of a burnt out fuse, just missing. Makes me think a bit of dirty tactics has been used, has anyone ever had any thing similar.

Ill be making a visit t the garage on Monday to speak to the manager, see what he thinks.

Cheers

You are welcome

Hi Folks, has any body got any good advice on the type of tow bar to fit on a 2014 Octavia estate VRs. I need it for carrying a bike rack.  Ideally a removable and wired up. living in the Bristol area. Thanks,
