Car performance suddenly improved

Featured Replies

This may seem strange but my Superb has started to improve in performance. The gearchanges on my auto seem better, the car is more responsive and goes alot quicker.

I'm thinking the DPF has cleared but I rarely have chance to regen where I live.

Unless something in the gearbox has changed, the gearbox was very poor before and I was considering selling the car because of it. Now the car is great.

Has someone borrowed it and given it an "Italian tune" :devil:

I had the same thing happen to me, it lasted one day last week the early morning commute. Drove faster than usual. MPG on maxidot was higher 5+mpg. In traffic also felt gear change was a lot better. I never got the "mojo" back after that. The only thing I could link it to was a cold morning. So the air would have been different, that's being combusted, I don't get all that dense air stuff though.  Anyone know the science ?

I have noticed this on my 140 Estate over the last couple of weeks.  Reported MPG on the maxidot is up about 5 MPG from usual.  I need to check at my next fill up as to the true MPG, maybe I am just more sluggish on the accelerator now the darker mornings are creeping in....lol

The car has now just passed 40k, I was wondering whether things get better as the engine is fully run in etc ?  TBM on my fixed wagon runs out in a couple of months, I am just hoping nothing crops up going forward....so much for VAG peace of mind.....!

Actually, if any of the parts on your car covered by the TBM are iffy - I really hope they go kaput in the next couple of months....

This is not because I am a swine and SOB. If something is compromised it will go sooner or later - I just want to see VAG pay for any problems, not the TasMan!   ;)

Ha, yep I know what you mean buddy, have thought that myself in recent times!

Ok now I have a fault code P2563 - Turbocharger Boost Control Position Sensor Circuit Range/Performance Intermittent.

The sudden performance improvement only lasted a day and its back to being laggy and having erratic gear changes. Something not right with the turbo, actuator or DPF.

Is there any checks I can do to determine the problem? My mechanical skills are very basic. Does anyone know how to perform a static DPF regen? or have a guide to clear the EGR?

@Vanders

You can install VAG DPF (free) app to monitor DPF status and regens.
