First VRS Modifications

Featured Replies

I made my first very minor modifications tonight to my 1week old, diamond silver VRS. Firstly I got rid of the standard light bulbs. I have to say though, they were a lot brighter than the ones in my Ford Fiesta but I decided I wanted a (cheap) Xenon look:P . So I changed my dipped beams to Osram Silverstars, my main beams to Phillips Blue Vision Ultra and got a free set of Phillips blue vision sidelight bulbs. The difference is astounding and even my mate who gave me a hand was surprised at the noticable improvement:eek: . After that I put in my Kenwood KDC 5090B and again the improvement in sound quality and overall finish of the dash really sets the interior off. After that I couldn't wait any longer and took the car for a drive in the dark through an area called Six Road Ends which anybody from the Bangor area of N.Ireland would know well. It was all twisty country roads, bumps and hidden dips, pitch black and full of accident blackspots:eek: but the vision I have gained off my new headlight bulbs has made all the difference:P . Anybody looking to improve their headlights at little expense should do this and will be pleased with the results.

Next up is to prep the car for a bit of re-mapping, PD160 air intake, Green cotton filter, better brakes, strut brace and possibly suspension. I have a little question though which may sound stupid. What sort of green cotton filter am I looking for? The guy I spoke to today (Car Mania in Newtownards) was convinced that if I was getting a cupra air intake that I would need a cupra filter, although to be honest I was unsure myself:mad: . Is it just a matter of replacing the standard Air filter with the green cotton one? If that is the case are all cotton panel filters the same for the Fabia as when the guy in the shop looked in his catalogue he couldn't seem to find one which covered the VRS 130bhp engine. Apologies if this is the millionth time you guys have been asked this but I would appreciate some guidance. Discuss......

You need a Green Cotton Panel Filter for a TDi 110. They fit the 130 exactly.

Go to the JBS site and ring Sarah

You mean Mike ;) or Sarah at Awesome GTI (these days).

I'm sure either will be able to help you.

The PD160 air intake does not change the shape of the airbox in which the filter is positioned. So as such no problem there :)

I'd get the suspension looked at before doing the brakes, personally, as although the brake change will have a good impact the suspension is the one thing that will help out the handling for cornering, general driving and braking. It reduces the dive and roll a fair bit, and IMHO it's probably one of the better mods on the car to build up the confidence in it.

Mine is now pretty heavily modified, but I started off with the air intake (PD160), green filter and the seat strut brace. Over time other stuff has been added :)

Hi Mate

As was suggested in the above post.

If you put the PD160Air Intake on it does not alter the air box , just the amount of air drawn in to it.

It is supprising how that and the filter will help with throttle response.

The remap WILL be a hige difference.

But I would say , again as has been suggested , the lowering springs are just great.

Get the little mod done at the same time where they reduce the size of the bump stops and that will just help.

The 312 brake upgrade will just go on your car too.

The strut brace is the one from Seat Sport I think that your on about will go on too.

There is a rear anti roll bar knocking about too that seems to have had a good impression.

Then you could go on to the clutch and the diff.

So I am afraid you have found something here that is good for spending your money.

If I can help you please feel free to PM me or just give us a call on 0161 7760777 and I will do what I can to help

Sarah

Sorry to hijack thread but do you have to order the PD160Air Intake from a Seat dealer or from somewhere like Awesome GTI

Hi Mate

The PD160is available from the Seat dealers.

You could order them off us , but then it would be the same as your local dealer.

These are Seat parts only and will not be available from the VW , or Audi dealers.

We can post things out to you , but if you have a local dealer of if you are out and about you may find that they have some in stock.
