Xenon headlight bulb replacement

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm really sorry if this is in the wrong place. I'm at my wits' end!

I had a bulb warning light come on (Superb L&K 63 plate) for the passenger side dipped beam. It's a xenon bulb. My car was going to my local Skoda garage for a DSG oil change anyway, so they said they would do the bulb for me.

They didn't do it on the day because they said they hadn't realised it was a xenon bulb, and it would need to be ordered in specially (£150!). They ordered it in for me and told me to pop down the next day at lunchtime and they would fit it while I waited. I did so, only for them to come out and tell me that they couldn't do it because they didn't realise it would involve removing the bumper. I booked the car in to have it done today.

The car has just been returned to me...with the bulb warning light still on! The driver couldn't tell me much but apparently for some reason they couldn't do it AGAIN. I've tried ringing the garage for answers but can't get through yet.

It has become farcical. Are these xenon bulbs really so impossible to change?! Is it normal for a Skoda garage to not know how to change bulbs in their own cars?! Do I have any viable alternatives for having this done? I really thought that of all the people in the world, those at a Skoda garage would be the ones to know what is involved to change a bulb.

At the moment I'm still driving around with only one headlight, a week after it was booked into the garage to be fixed. And I'm seriously unimpressed with the garage! Is this a notorious issue or am I just massively unlucky? :crying:

Mk3 superb when I was looking at buying one certainly didn’t look like a bumper off job.

i could be wrong, but find a decent garage?
