Hi everyone, I've registered to get to know a bit more about the Octavia vRS, I'm hoping to buy one in the next couple of months. I'm coming from an E39 M5 and want an estate car with reasonable performance and running costs - the Octavia vRS seems like a decent option. I've decided on a facelift MK2 TSI estate (preferably manual) and my budget is about £7k, if anyone knows of a good one for sale or coming up give me a shout :)

Thanks! Yep - 397bhp, RWD, TCS off button. Lots of fun and miss it already. Having a 'sensible' sabattical now ;)

That's my favourite 5 series styling wise. Once drove a friends M5 with the 3.6 straight six lightly modified (up from 315 to 330bhp) and it was quite heavy to drive particularly the clutch. It was way quicker than my 325i Coupe at the time though. The 197bhp in the Octy you are looking at can easily produce around 250bhp with a re-map which would make it more fun coming from the M5. Good look in your search.B)

No you misunderstood me, coming from the M5 not better than. My 245 had 248bhp as standard before it mapped.

Aha, yes, sorry :D I reckon the Octy vRS will be the most entertaining drive for my brief/budget. Also considering the 3.0tdi A6 which is a nice thing but won't be particularly capable other than the obvious grunt.

Petrol VRS models tend to cost around £0.15 per mile so MK2 has 55 litre tank I think, whereas the 2013 on MK3 has a smaller 50 litre tank.

Good to know, thanks. I'm looking forward to test driving one, I just need to find one - there aren't many about!

In our company car park we have a standard MK1 1.8t IN BLACK, standard MK2 2.0t IN SILVER and my MK3 IN BLACK. The MK2 is a 2010 car.

A warm welcome to the Forum !  I came from a GT86.  Great fun but need to be practical and can't afford a fleet any more:D

Welcome to Briskoda

Cool, I like the GT86 - it strikes me as being similar in ilk to the MX5, with a bit more power. It'll be a great cheap track car in a few years!

They already are although I stayed on the road - couldn't afford the insurance or risk damage.

Yes, I meant that in few years they'll be shirt buttons like mx5's and great fun to modify. Tastefully of course ;)

Which Skoda did you go for?

Octavia 1.5 TSI hatch.  Seriously thought about the VRS but then having tried the 1.4TSI found it good enough for me as pensioner.  Oops :speechless:
