EML on twice

Featured Replies

Our Superb II had the EML light on for the second time today. On the weekend it came on I borrowed a code reader and got P0674 and cleared it. This afternoon it was on again and I checked with VCDS - see attachment.

The fault is "Cylinder 4 Glow Plug Circuit (Q13)". I have not been in the engine bay for a while. Is this anything fixable?

Eventually I got round to changing the glow plug.

Not very technical but fiddly. I read through some instructions on the internet and thought I would be able to quickly do it and had to rush out to get different tools.PB173000_1.thumb.jpg.203f74536eb322af9c4702932dc7b0a0.jpg

These are the glow plug sites. My faulty one is on the 4. cylinder.PB172999_1.thumb.jpg.d7d27bce4a9675c32698466fa6e696e4.jpg

To get to it or any of them you have to remove 4 T25 Torx screws.

and open clips and disconnect the fuel return pipe in the next picture to be able to lift pipes and wiring to get to the glow plug.

Use a 10 mm spanner to lever the connector off the glow plug.

I wanted to remove the glow plug as shown in the link in the previous post only to then realize that my 1/2" socket set was too big to get into the gap.

I then had to get a 10mm long nut on a 3/8" extension. I measured the old and new glow plug: old way above 5K Ohm, new less than 1Ohm. Fitting is reverse of removal. VCDS reported no errors.
