Irregular DPF Passive Regen - 2010 1.6 TDI Fabia

The limit for soot is about 45g before the DPF isn't able to regen and it needs replacing or cleaning.

I think you actually mean oil ash which cannot be burnt off by the car. The limit will vary by engine but 70g or 175ml has been suggested for various EA189 CR engines.

The total mileage will depend on the engine condition and the type of driving it's doing. My CR140 has done 152k miles and looking at it's current oil ash level the DPF should last over 240k miles.

I read the soot limit was 40g for the dealership to force a regen on the 1.6CR, but I may be remembering incorrectly?

Sorry yes I meant ash 70g, not soot.

Yes it does, it seems to be around 140k miles for the 1.6, but as you've said, careful driving on a 2.0 can be much longer.  Emissions update will obviously make it worse!

Either way, something cheap like a Carista for £16 and VAGDPF app will tell the OP exactly what is going on!

Thanks for the help guys.

Since running the DPF cleaner through it and now a tank of injector, turbo, EGR cleaner it seems to have calmed down and going much longer between regens. Did 150 mile trip at the weekend on motorway too and that seems to have helped a lot to get it hot and stay hot for a long duration!

I've just started monitoring my octy vrs (I know, different engine) using the VAGDPF app. Interestingly, guy that did remap uses both VCDS and Autel and both failed to detect the most recent regens.

Anyway, question is what am I looking at in the app apart from soot and oil Ash. Regen every 250 miles seems waaay too often for a car with just under 40k on clock on mostly high speed motorway journeys. What are the temp sensors telling me? What are optimum targets etc?

Here are a couple of screenshots, one just after a regen, and one after the 200 mile journey

Good evening to everyone. I would kindly request for your help. I recently had the emissions upgrade and the DPF is operating differently. I have a Skoda Fabia 1.2 tdi 2013.

Before the update: regeneration every 300-350 km lasting about 20-30'.

After the update: regeneration every 100-150 km lasting about 60-70'.

It seems a bit weird. Every suggestion would be helpful for me. Thanks in advance.

Welcome.

Someone that knows about this stuff will be along hopefully.

What possessed you to go have the Fix done on your car if it was not done in the past 6 years?

Thank you.

Well to be honest i received the recall letter for the airbag and I was informed at the workshop that I should have the update, as well. The car was bought from me at 2019, so it had not been done earlier 🤔

Have you been given the paper work for a 2 year peace of mind guarantee on the VW Voluntary Recall new engine management not causing failures with your car?

I am afraid no sir I did not have such a guarantee.
