Swapping AC compressor on skoda fabia mk1

Featured Replies

Hello ,

My name is  Andres .I'm  from  dominican  republic . I own  a  skoda  fabia  mk1   with  the  1.4 ame  mpi  engine  and  i  want  to  know  if  it's possible to  install an older  style ac compressor  with a  magnetic  clutch instead of the original that it's spinning  always ,because i  don't  want to mess doing  scans and  buying vent sensors, flap motors ,etc. those parts  are  expensive  here in my  country. I have two make my own  fans control relays to  trigger by  engine temp .

My idea it's  to install a compressor that will fit in the  original  mounting bracket and  belt ,wire  with separate relay and  start button . The problem is  if  this  it's possible how can  i raise the  idle  speed when  AC is  on  because  this  car has  electronic throttle  ,i'm  afraid  that the  engine would stall and  turn  off.

I will appreciate  all  your  help .Thank You.

You don't need to, the ECU will increase throttle to hold the idle steady under compressor load because it's already programmed to do that when the aircon is switched on, the extra cooling fan should also come on as well.

When A/C is on, the fans are also controlled according to refrigerant pressure, which will not necessarily correlate with engine temperature.

At 9 bar (sensed by G65 pressure sensor) radiator fan(s) come on at low speed, turning off again if the pressure drops below 6.3 bar or similar.

At 16 bar refrigerant pressure fan(s) are switched on at high/full speed, dropping back to low speed once the pressure drops below 12 bar.

You should probably leave this system intact rather than trying to change it.
