Maxidot strange display

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

66 plate Scout, no special equipment, driven this lunchtime by SWMBO. Clean, dry single lane carriageway with cars a reasonable distance in front and behind, well within speed limit, not accelerating or braking and SatNav not in active use. A large top down view of the car appears on the Maxidot "surrounded by zig-zags, like it was being electrocuted", together with an alarm. Lasted for a couple of seconds and then normality resumed.  The car picture was larger than the one showing what doors are open and the whole thing was monochrome.

Sorry I don't have more accurate info, its second hand feedback from a non-petrolhead so please take the symptom description with a pinch of salt.

Never heard of, or seen anything like that before and don't see anything in the manual - do any of you folks know what it might have been?  It wasn't lane-keeping (already checked that one). Off to check the error logs to see if anything 'interesting' is going on.

Hmm...apparently not. In addition I don't think that car has Front Assist provisioned...leastways, I've never triggered it in two years of driving ( although possibly due to the quality of my driving B)   ).

She was very clear that it was a top view with zig-zags around it. For now I'm going with brace-yourself-for-alien-abduction until I hear a better explanation.

Do you have the side-parking sensors (not sure what the correct term for them is - like proximity sensors in the doors when you are getting to close to something at the side)?

If I remember there was a thread when this was introduce a while back as it would trigger above parking speeds when passing a tight gap or close to a bus...

Nope.

We did have a Mondeo a couple of years ago that was constantly startled by its own front wheels while turning at low speed, but this one was on open road, not turning, not accelerating and not braking. Weird one, innit?

Had this display twice in bright red. First time a little old lady decide a gentle bend on a 60 mph. road had to be taken at 14 mph. I got a little close. Second time there seemed to be no reason unless I missed a falling leaf. It seems to be a little sensitive.
