Good Afternoon,

 

I've recently got myself a MK3 Octavia VRS and upon cold startup there is a strange noise (video attached - noise @ 6 seconds) which I have not had in any other cars I have owned and was wondering if you guys could tell me if this is normal? Upon warm start up, its fine.

Sounds like the hydraulic valve lifters pumping up.

 

My Octavia makes exactly the same sound, so IMHO it's perfectly normal.

Unless there both faulty..............................

Which mine definitely isn't  - based on both our previous Fabia and RS4 making the same noise on cold starts...

nothing to worry about accoring to the above posting

It sounds like it's letting out a fart. I hope my 1.5TSI does this when I get it.

My 1.5TSi doesn't - the driver however..........................

On another note, has anyone been able to find the “Sports display” where the Turbo Pressure gauge is displayed? I read a few threads that people in Australia have it but nothing about the UK? Although it’s in the owners manual.
