fabia vrs BLT ticking noise

Featured Replies

hows it going .

i have a fabia vrs BLT engine with a awful ticking noise from cold start and contuines onto the engine being warm also  .  only way i can get it to stop is when engine is fully warmed take it for a blast down the road hard and the noise stops

-new camshaft fitted and lifters 100mile ago old cam and lifter were fine no worn lifters or cam

-injectors set 180 back off

-serviced oil & filter

-torsion value set to 0

- timing has been checked three times

-changed to pd150 injectors but got a poor idle with them fitted . vagcom showed injectors were fine . but the IQ was 1.5 compared to blt injectors it was 4 IQ  so refitted old injectors and idle perfect again.

-vagcom showing no fault codes

going to try new injector seal kit to injectors to see if cures ticking?

any ideas ?

cheers

Could be DMF but you can tell that by pushing in the clutch will go away so sounds with your experience of what you are looking at is unlikely.
Or maybe alternator pulley ? I had ticking on mine that turned out to be that, I think it was doing it all the time though.

I've had both on mine, the pulley was a cheap fix/replacement, the DMF remains but hasn't done anything rash in 40K+ and is intermittent when idling in neutral

Does the car drive normally?. Any difference in mpg ?. Any difference in smoke levels?. Have tried to pinpoint where exactly the tick comes from?.

Not to sound like a **** but due the the compression ignition/ low rpm this does produce a loud ticky sort of noise. Classic derv sound.

problem solved , all rocker arm plugs were missing ,  ticking has now stopped .

cheers for the help .

Hence no oil pressure in the top end, not good, you need to check the wear on the rocker bushes and make sure the new cam and lifters are still ok.
