Mirror folding using key remote not working - am I missing something?

Featured Replies

My 150 4x4 DSG went in for its first service today.  The dealership gave it a clean bill of health, and set it to fixed servicing as I had requested.

All seemed well on the drive home, until I parked in my drive and locked up.  I kept the lock button on the remote pressed for a few seconds, as usual, to fold the driving mirrors in.  They didn't.  I unlocked the car and tried again.  They still didn't.  They didn't when I tried the other key.  I searched around on the settings in the Maxidot and found nothing.  I opened and shut all the windows, and the doors and tried again.

The only way to get the mirrors to fold now is to use the folded setting on the rotary knob inside the driver's door.

Before I ring up the dealership tomorrow to complain, have I forgotten something blindingly obvious that would make this work like it used to right up until I handed it over to them?

This  has happened to me on a couple of occasions, then I read somewhere about re-setting the windows, (ie opening them and then closing them fully). Last time the mirrors would not fold I just opened the drivers window and then closed it. After that the windows retracted OK? (Simply not very clever...).

I reckon you need to reset all the windows!:)

I find battery condition can make a difference as to how well the mirrors fold

and I leave the key sticking out of the fob (like an aerial) it would be nice to know

where the receiver is  it might help the key fob battery if it is low.

The first time I had time I the problem I opened and closed all the windows and the mirrors would then retract. The last time (last week), I only opened and closed the drivers window and it did the trick...?

As above, I reckon one of your windows has lost its "one touch" setting.  I'm not sure of the exact procedure but it's something similar to this:

Lower the window until fully down then hold the button down for three seconds.  Raise the window until fully up then hold the button up for three seconds.

Edit: Have a look here:

Many thanks all for your suggestions.  Urrell's guidance on the thread linked above did the trick: turned out to be the front passenger window that had lost its one-touchiness but following the reset procedure did the trick.

Must jot this down on a post-it and stick it in the relevant page in the manual!

I do wonder why one window went funny.  It does seem to be not that uncommon.  Maybe this time it had something to do with the battery being disconnected during the service...but then again I don't think they would have needed to do that for just an oil service, would they?

I can remember this happening when I first had my yeti and thanks to having read about the issue on THIS  forum managed to sort it out.
