You’ll be told to chisel it off, hammer a socket onto it and welding a nut on it. You’re best option though is to look up a locking wheel nut remover, they’ll charge about £10 a wheel and you won’t have any damage to your alloys using their special tool.

I went through this last year and highly recommend it. You’ll need a new sets of locking wheels nuts, which you can get for around £30 on eBay.

Mental note made.

In the event, I would probably not have thought of this.  Cheers

Yeah, new ones can be purchased as they only have around 30 versions. You just need the correct one, which a main dealer or good tyre shop should be able to source for you and it should be way less money and work, then changing all the bolts.

I'm almost surprised that they used an impact gun on their security bolt adaptor, that is what helps to destroy them in the first place.

I think that someone on this forum pointed out already that you should always slacken off the security bolt first and tighten it last, in fact it can make life a lot easier if you have a wheel locating dowel pin - VW Group used to supply them with some cars mainly ones that did not have a locating screw in the discs, so what I do is, I remove the security bolt, fit either the plastic dowel in in place of it or my alloy dowel, turn the wheel so that is at the top, then remove all the other bolts.

If you search on ebay, you might find someone selling that adaptor - you will know its "type" from the letter stamped into the head of the adaptor, then buy a new one.

I had to have one drilled out by a tyre fitting business. When I last changed my car the first thing I did was remove the security bolts and replace with a standard ones. I might put them bock in if I had to park some where dodgy overnight.

^^^?

Anyone stealing wheels get the security bolt off quicker than a tyre fitter or Main Dealer Technician.  & in the dark.

They are not bothered about the car or the owner.
