Fabia mk1 Vrs maxi dot cluster retrofit

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I bought a Fabia VRs mk1. I'm interested in the job involved to retrofit this cluster and have it 100% working. I live in Serbia, so my Fabia is a LHD one...  This cluster is from a RHD but i guess it wont be the issue. If it's possible and not hard, I would buy a DX Satnav as well :) Appreciate your help! Is it hard and troublesome to do it? What other parts would i need to change, if any?  Cheerz

Will I require a MFd1 that is DX satnav for it to work correctly? Another thing. My car has ASZ engine, whereas the seller indicated that the cluster is from a BLB Vrs?

no one guys? :)

Look, there is a VERY boring thread about retrofitting a maxidot and it was really long and tedious and not entirely successful.

Do a search, it shall appear.

It's a very long and pointless journey back to the 1990's and you're on your own ok.

Kk, ty for the reply. Can you guys find the oem part number for the LHD and RHD clusters? Ive googled out only 6Y0920971S, which is without maxi dot.... I didnt find the long thread but i did some threads.... People seemed to encounter some minor problems (inaccurate readings)

Guys, resurrection time.. 😂 Let’s continue from where we left off….  I sold my old car two years ago and I just got a beautiful mint condition 2006 Vrs, BLT engine, Esp, heated seats, I will want to find the maxi dot cluster and factory MFD. Where can I get the code for the unit, LHD, 2006 model? What are the chances  it could be sorted from the dealer? Slim I guess…

Would need to know the last 8 numbers of the VIN to be sure (or you could check if they are in the range 54421760 - 64648255) , but it looks like this one if the car was built before May 2006.

Don't know if a dealer would be interested; probably only if you bought the part from them.

Echoing Wino, the dealer probably wouldn't be interested in supplying a maxi-dot cluster. They're like hen's teeth these days so I don't know if you'd be able to get a hold of one. You'd be best looking at cars getting broken up for scrap.

A dealer would be more than happy to supply the part if it's available anywhere, it may be a special order and you might have to pay for it up front but if it exists they will supply it.

Tbh you'll get frustrated with trying to retro fit a maxi dot display as i'm almost certain nobody has ever done it completely as the facory.

If you actually want a display that is modern and tells you what's what in minute detail, you'd be better off sourcing the "Color MFA" mod that originates in Russia of all places.

There's a guy on Facebook, user name "aRd Technik" who supplies and installs them, not cheap but much better than 20yr old Maxi Dot tech and actually brings a bit of modernity to the Fabia dash cluster.

Are you sure this is the right part number? 6Y0 920 842 S

I can only repeat what I said on 18th October

"Would need to know the last 8 numbers of the car's VIN to be sure (or you could check if they are in the range 54421760 - 64648255)"
