Evening all

Due to my ill health and the constant line from the DVLA of 'we're processing your licence application', my poor dad has kindly taken over control of my car (vrs mk3 tdi 2016)

With wanting to keep it in full working order, it's got it's 2nd service scheduled for this Friday, however that's only half my concern with the car.

It's still running on diesel which has been in the tank for well over 12 months. It's done approximately 100 miles on said diesel now the car is getting a bit more use, but there's still at least 3/4 of a tank left and couldn't say either myself or my dad have noticed anything up with the car, I'm a bit worried it may be potentially causing an issue.

There are 3 options I can think of doing;

  • Leave it and run it down before the service and they'll be checking the car over anyway.
  • Use a fuel treatment (like Wynns Dry Fuel or system treatment) just to make sure the system hasn't anything in it which it shouldn't have
  • Start afresh and have the tank drained

Like I say, I can't say I've seen or felt anything wrong and all what the car is reporting on VCDS whilst we're moving suggests business as usual.
