Water Pump change or not

Featured Replies

Need to tackle a cam belt change soon or pay to have it done...I had a new water pump when I had some work down just over 3 years ago and only has 22k on it so not alot at all. When changing cambelt I'd usually take into account the pump but this seems wasted money for such a little used one thats in there.  What are peoples opinions. Garage want to do it but it adds up the price and seems a bit pointless if there good for 60-80k....

Cheers

Make sure you change it 100%

Mine failed at 30K. In the past I would of said not to bother but in the last few years there has been quite a lot of water pump issues.

Mine failed within 24 hours of being installed. Allegedly there was a faulty batch. This was in summer 2013.

For price comparison Skoda charge £100 for the water pump.

The last one was faulty hence why it got changed then for a genuine one. This one fingers crossed seems ok at the moment and yes changing the waterpump out will push the cost up...Not too much if I do it myself but quite a bit if garage is doing it.
