I've had my 2010 Octy Estate for 5 years now, love the thing, it's done 150k and still drives like a new car and I get 60mpg out of it. However my parking sensors on the rear have stopped working. I replaced the headunit for an android one about 3+ years ago and have had sound and display working fine on there when reversing all the time. However this has now disappeared totally. I put the car in reverse the screen goes black, there is no beep and no reverse warning noises. All the sensors are working fine, have had the engine off, put the car in reverse and listened to them all and can hear them all clicking away quit nicely. Now as I haven't had it since new I can only guess that these are factory fit. I am wondering if it is the control module that has died? is that a thing that happens? if it is where is it, I'm assuming the boot somewhere, and how would I get to it? not sure how to take off all the trim in the boot.

Before replacing parts, get it scanned with VCDS or similar first.

 

That should at least give you some clues to where the fault is rather than just replacing parts and hoping.

I'll see if I can get access, I was just hoping someone had had something similar.

In the hatch, the module is in the passenger side of the boot behind the lining, I'd expect it to be in a similar place on the estate. The module also provides power to the sensors so if you can hear the clicks, it must be at least slightly working...

 

It really could be anything, some simple faults like a faulty warning buzzer are enough to disable the system
