Robot voice in cabin

Featured Replies

Hi folks

just getting to grips with my Superb 280 and it’s features coming from an Octavia vRS previously.

My 7 year old daughter thinks I sound like a robot when driving her about in the car as there is clearly voice feedback from the Canton Audio system when I’m talking in the car.

I can only describe it as having a headset on, such as when flying and being able to hear your voice in an electronic state.

Had a scroll through the menus but can’t seem to find anything specific about this but would be keen to know if I’m going mental or it’s a standard feature of the car and can it be adjusted.

Many thanks

Yes it can be turned off.

I think it's called voice enhancement or something similar.

Press the volume controls on the side of the screen. A volume bar will appear along the top together with a button which looks like the front people talking to the back people. Press it, then adjust the setting (to off!) :)

I think you can also access the setting directly from many of the screens. Have a look for an icon in the top right hand corner of the screen. Looks like two seats with some sound waves above them from memory. I think if you touch the icon, it will take you to the voice enhancement setting in the audio settings menu. Working from memory though so I could be mistaken.

My children said the same thing so I have now set it to zero. I don't have the Canton system though, just the standard Columbus. But I imagine the setting will be the same.

Edit : Ivan8192 beat me to it and has pointed out the correct way to get the icon to display :)

Great idea, poorly implemented.  I tried to fettle with the settings on mine a few weeks ago after initially disabling it.  After hearing my indicator 'clicks' on a slight delay, from the rear of the cabin, I disabled it again.

I have managed to disable this with Carista app, but now I have not clue how to turn it back on. Is there a specific setting in VAG-COM that I have to search for and what I have to change?

Thank you

You can disable/enable/adjust volume via the infotainment system  Settings > Volume (or something like that)

Yeah, I know that, but it’s gone from there 👎👎

So why did you disable it using coding/adaptations then? Did you take a backup before making any changes?

It was not intentional. With caristaapp you send them the backup, but I am still trying to get them understand what is missing 😒

It is not the point of the question here as well. I was wondering if someone knows the location of this setting in order for me to tell them what I am missing....
