vRS running odd

Featured Replies

Over the last month or so, my car has seamed to developed a hesitation (like a misfire) at low revs and idle, when warm. It seams to run OK when cold and initially when warm but then becomes rough running, Seams to do it accelerating from low revs and had car stall when trying to pull away.

No warning lights, and I've had a code reader check which found nothing. Done 150k miles, recently had service and MOT (148k).

Any ideas?

Took a vid when idling.

Lets see if it works: View My Video

I had a similar issue on my 02 Estate. The first time it was because the LPG injectors needed replaced (so probably not too relevant to yourself) and the second time it was because the coils were fecked. Supposedly coils are a common source of issues.

VRS is diesel and so does not have coil packs.

I have not experienced your problem but injector wiring harness springs to mind as it sounds like a definite misfire.

Yep, diesels being compression ignition don't have coils or spark plugs.

I did wonder about injectors or injector loom, but thought if at fault it would do it all the time (when cold). Would it cause a fault code to register?

Basic servicing ? Fuel filter change ?

I might try that, not changed for a long time. However when I last had a blocked/dirty filter (on our other Fabia) it gave different symptoms, OK at idle, but hesitant at high revs. Mines seams the opposite. The car has always run on Shell fuel, although this year been using Jet and Shell.

Could a sensor be out but not throwing a fault but still not quite right ? Could some kind of leak somewhere cause something like this ?

Never had anything like this sorry, only a bit on the high side due to slight fault on fly by wire throttle but more on the high side and not really a miss.
