Or find the fault in the wiring, connections or cluster..

You're the one that's not helping sep.

You must realise that electrics aren't really your forte?

Vigneshwaran asked a perfectly reasonable question; I've now answered it.

...and the voltage reading was?

I didn't measure any voltages.

Do it yourself if you feel it would add knowledge. ☺️

How about the resistance of your functional coolant sensor?

  • Sponsor

Less than 62k, clearly.

Clearly the scientific method isn't really your forte.

Nevermind, there's always epistemology to fall back on. 😆

Welcome to my ignore list.

Vigneshwaran re-raised this issue so I kind of wondered, at the age of the vehicle, perhaps the probes in the bottle have just corroded/scaled up over time and as mentioned by Sepulchrave, replacing the bottle is quite an inexpensive option. Not a difficult procedure, either so barely worth thinking of. After ten years, treat it like an oil/air/cabin filter and replace it. Even a used one will not be worth it as often, used is more costly then new and will probably be half way through its life in any case!

I noticed Vignashwaran is based in India... Of corse, parts may be costlier there, comparatively but even if you find the root of the cause, you will in all likelihood, need to change the bottle. I also know, from many students, etc that many places such as India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, etc, use plain water in the car. (Both in coolant and screen wash). This will accelerate any wear to many parts of the cooling system so is really a false economy.

Yeah It is costlier here @mrgf. It would cost me near 25£  pound for me for a new reservoir if it costs any cheaper too I would rather test it out before swapping it and the mechanics too aren't much interested in testing them properly rather than that they'll charge me like 200£ minimum for every service that's why I do it myself.

BTW Thanks @Wino for your answers I'm gonna check it out today.

Blimey! I can pick up a reservoir from places such as Eurocarparts, or Carparts4less, for a little more then £6, with a discount code, here in the U.K.

The problem here is postage, though. To post to anywhere is costlier. You may get something from say, China, (Ali express have them from £13.54 with a cap, which usually are a separate part) quite a keen price and often with free postage. Takes a few weeks to  come, so no good for urgent goods but great for bits and bobs! I am checking for Mk 2 Fabia but think they are the same.
