Hi chaps and chapettes

 

Picked up a 2nd hand Superb Estate Elegance 1.8TSI (11-reg) a few weeks ago, and unfortunately it only comes with one key. After a search on the forum, it seems like there are a number of options including dealer (expensive) or a local auto locksmith.

 

Having done a bit of research online, I've come across http://www.car-keys-online.com/. Apparently they do everything remotely, including cutting a key using just a picture of the key! (I don't have the key code). Has anyone used them before? Any red flags that you can see? Can't find a truspilot entry/reviews for them so unsure at this time.

They aren't going to be able to code it unless they have your vehicle or parts from your vehicle.

I had a suspicion that £50 for a replacement key was too good to be true ... presumably I'll need to go to someone like these guys: http://duplicut.co.uk/

Thanks for the suggestion. Do you know where they're based? It appears that Auto Solutions is a very popular name for car companies - facebook search is giving me loads of hits, one of which is in Bermuda!

Craig Nettleton is mobile, he will add you to a list and then comes out to an area and does several keys at the same time. 

Where did you get a second key cut and coded in the end? I need to do the same.

Not yet I'm afraid. Still intend to buy Christmas spending has taken priority for now! Will report back once I've had it done.
