Regretfully for sale due to job related issues is my 2004 Audi A8 3.7 Quattro in Silver, this is the D3 second generation. I have owned this car for 5 years, bought it on 128K miles and now has 166K miles. During the last few years it has not had much use, indeed as of writing this it has covered less than 1K miles since the middle of July.

The Audi is one of two cars I own, and it will be sad to see it go, but go it must. Insuring, taxing a second car in my current situation is not good.

3.7 litre, V8 Normally aspirated engine.

166K miles (rising as still in use)

MOT until 1st August 2019

This is proper torsion diff, full time 4x4, not the later Haldex based 4x4.

Silver metallic

Grey leather interior.

Satnav ( you can still get current DVDs for this)

Six disc CD changer

Optional extras:

Comfort seats

Keyless entry and go

Radar adaptive cruise control, with widescreen driver information display

GSM carphone with full hands free and separate handset

Solar sunroof

Quad Zone climate control

Bose sound system

Electric boot open and close (the close button needs to be replaced but it opens perfectly).

Retrofitted

Audi AMI module for plugging in USB sticks, HDDs and aux in devices (supplied with USB adapter cable)

Audi DVB-T hybrid TV tuner so you can watch Freeview TV, tuner also has 2x AV inputs (not currently connected)

The ABS ECU developed a fault internally, this has been repaired professionally by an ECU specialist and there have been no issues since.

I replaced the coolant bottle several years ago, but the bolts had to be cut out, so the new one is secure but not not retained correctly.

There were a number of issues on the last MOT, one exhaust related which has been fixed. The other two were brake related but are due to me living on a farm (dirty brake lines) and lack of use of the car and my mechanic says they are nothing to worry about.

The whole body is Audi space frame and made of Aluminium so there are zero rust issues to worry about.

Moving on,

The car is due a service which I cannot afford due to the work situation.

The cambelt is also due on age (but not mileage) it was change 4.5 years ago along with all the tensioners and has covered approx 35K on this belt. The water pump was not changed with the belt as one bolt was seized in the block and the original pump was and is still working perfectly.

The wheels need a refurb as the polished alloy is corroding.

The interior is in VG+ condition, considering it is 14 years old. Hardly anyone has sat in the back during my ownership.

The buyer will get a lot of car for the money, it drives perfectly.

£2800 is the price, reasonable offers will be considered.

Know what you mean, but I was unemployed due to redundancy from May to the end of August. I now have a temporary job, doing a non IT role on almost half the old salary. A role which is due to end just before christmas, ironically this temporary role is with the same organisation that made me redundant.

She has got to go, and if needs must I will put it through an auction once I have removed the AMI and TV tuner to sell those separately.

Hi all,

I still have the Audi, and yes it is still for sale.

Price reduced to £2500.

However the keyless entry and go has decided to stop working, so you now need to unlock with the remote fob and put the key in the ignition. Whilst this improves security, it is something  the car has that no longer works. VCDS says there is an electrical fault in the circuit which does not clear.

And yes, 8 months later the car is still for sale,

168K miles, MOT to August 2020, now with failed heater, a/c blower. Priced at £1995, cheapest A8 D3 anywhere.  She needs to go or will most likely be scrapped soon.

Also has replacement front strut fitted, replacement air compressor, replacement suspension relay. Comes with some spare parts, used good front air strut, some usable suspension compressor parts, and some smaller pieces.
