Dear Oil Experts I need your help for my 1.9TDI PD

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

First of all, sorry for my bad english if I'm wrong. Im living in Belgium and I have a 2006 Octavia 2 Combi RS Line which has 1.9TDI PD BXE engine with 5 gear manual transmission. I've read dozens of pages on forum and I figured it out that 7GG means with DPF, 0GG means without DPF. I have 0GG mentioned on the sticker of the service book. So I guess mine hasn't a DPF. Lots of people saying Motul is the best choice so I want to go for it. But Im open for any suggestion. My question is;

For these specifications should I buy

505.01, 506.01 or 507 ?

Thanks

Cant help you with the oil spec but thanks for the DPF code info, I have just photocopied my sticker to study the codes and the DPF question was my number 1, I too have 0GG so I am a happy bunny.

Always used 507   5w/30 long life in my octy  over the 200k miles i did , if thats any help

I also use 507 there is a vag dealer here in the uk that often has it for sale on ebay at very competitive prices.

I was using Quantum 507.00 but now have Fuchs 507.00. I think Fuchs now make the oil for Quantum.

I use it in my Octavia 2.0 VRS tdi and my Audi A3 2.0 tdi. I change the oil and filters every 5000 miles so 20 litre drums are much more economical.

If no DPF just stick to 505.01 for annual service intervals as it was specifically designed for PD engines to protect the cams from wear.

I was going to order 505.01 5W40 but I wanted to ask a mechanic to be sure and he said they just use 5W30 for almost every vag car. OMG! he also said that Skoda Authorized Services using the same 507 5W30 no matter if it's a PD engine or not, with or without DPF as @seriesdriver said either..

Then I also found this:

After all, my mind is totally confused between 505.01-5w40 / 506.01-0w30 and 507-5w30

506 is very specific for 2 or 3 exotic engines mainly used in high end Audis a few years ago, do not use this oil in your PD!

Safest option is 505.01, 507 is supposed to be backward compatible but I've just read a statement from Castrol that their SLX professional LL3  oil (507 as used in dealers) is not suitable for PD engine and is not compatible.

The SLX Professional LLO3 5w-30 meets VW 504 00 and 507 00 it does not meet the VW 505 01 specification. The 505.01 engine oil is specifically formulated to ensure protection of the cam lobes that drive the unit injectors. High loading requires the proper level of antiwear protection. In turn VW needs to ensure that 505.01 is utilized for this engine design. The cam shafts are mechanically driven and assist in the build up of fuel pressure in each injector.

Thanks for help. 505.01 seems like the best choice for PD Engines. But viscosity of 505.01 is 5w40. Is that okay?

Or is 505.01 compatible 507 5w30 better?

Best Regards

Either so long as you know its 505.01 spec which has EP additives to protect the injector cam lobes.
