Bluetooth and android Auto issue

Featured Replies

So my Karoq is only 4 months old and I'm having issues with the Bluetooth on the car and android Auto, its an intermittent fault but every once in a while the car comes up with "Unable to switch on Bluetooth" and then no matter what I try it won't work for the rest of that day. I've tried factory resetting the head unit but to no avail. Has anyone had the same issues?

Yes mine can be a bugger, some times it loads no prob! then another time I have to confirm on the phone to pair and connect, go into phone settings and get it to pair *&%$.

Phone is a Sony Experia L1

If I activate Bluetooth on my phone whilst I am in the house it registers with the car when I start the ignition every time, but if I switch on Bluetooth on my phone once I have got into the car it does not find my phone and I have to go into the settings on the Amundsen unit.

Will have to try that, modern tech will do some odd things?

Same here.

Sounds to me like a fault. Ours is a Bolero though, although that shouldn't make a difference.

We have BT always on on my Pixel 2XL and my wife's S8 and they both connect as soon as we get in the car and switch on the ignition.

Android Auto is (for now) a cable connection and makes some use of BT to do what it does. Whichever phone we use for the AA apps it "locks out" the other for BT. Quite why I don't know, other than it regarding the cable connected phone as having priority.

Just means the other has to use the handset to answer etc.

Well they couldn't find a fault again today after diagnostic checks but the workshop guy has sent a tech inquiry to Skoda UK and will call me as soon as they have an answer, he did say that if all else fails then they'll have to take out the dash and fit a new head unit (luckily I wouldn't have to pay) although hopefully it won't  need to come to that.
