Ratikon wheels

Featured Replies

Putting winter tires today noticed that Ratikon wheels are same on both left and right side of my Karoq.

But Ratikon spokes are not symmetrical - they have shape of rotor blades, with one side 'sharp' (thin edge) and other 'dull' (flat, thick edge). It seems it is designed to 'cut' air in frint direction.

But as all 4 wheels are the same, wheels on left side rotate in such way that spokes cut the air with 'sharp' edge when rolling forward. Yet right side wheels are oriented opposite - they cut air with 'dull' side.

Anyone have same configuration? Or someone has different left and right side Ratikon wheels?

Looking into Skoda eShop, where you can buy these wheels, there is no option to select left or right side / wheel positioning (or I missed it).

Yet, my friend in JIA service told me that some manufacturers, Ford for instance, do have asymmetric wheels and they have specific left and right positioning. He also pointed out that it may not be if importance for vehicle dynamics and performance (if it is by design that asymmetric wheels can be used interchangeably on both sides). But if car/wheels are not designed to be used interchangeably then wrong orientation may influence/restrict air flow around and to inside of wheel and disc breaks making car drifting on highways as well make disc cooling different (as airflow us different on left and right sides).

Thus I would note everyone on this issue. And ask kindly to check your wheels and share your findings here.

Skoda have done this before, it's how it is.

If the car does drift, I must be compensating without realising.

IMO for the speeds we are travelling I would expect little difference to aerodynamics - it doesn't need to grip like a racing car.

Well... Maybe you are right. But it looks strange.

So, let's collect feedback here. @OldKaroq @silver1011 You have same wheel config?

ALL Skoda wheels are the same (as in the rest of the VAG group, the only exception maybe some of the more expensive Audi and dearer cars)

There are lots.

On the Kodiaq the two that spring to mind are the 18" Triton and 19" Triglav...

The turbines on the VW Scirroco and Passat CC are another obvious one...

I cant think of any volume car manufacturer that’s making side specific wheels just now, or in the recent past.
