High pitched noise whilst driving

Featured Replies

Hi everyone any help on this would be much appreciated, mabey another member has experienced it, I own a FL mk2 TDI cr 170 equipped with dsg gear box, whilst driving round a car park I've noticed it's making a high pitched what can only be described as an electrical noise!! Sounds stupid but a bit like the noise you would get if someone let off a loud bang and yours ears started Ringing!! I've narrowed the noise down to the engine bay but its only making this noise when the car is moving, as soon. As  I stop the noise stops, very strange anyways any info that could be useful would be great or any members who have had a similar issue,it would be great to hear from yous , thanks again

Stone in a brake disc guard? Try reversing a couple of meters :)

Quite common and makes a painful noise but whenever Ive had this, no driving method would remove it and so always need to remove the wheel and poke it out by using a long screwdriver or similar between the disc and backplate, simple enough to do.

Hmmm never thought of this, I'll have a look when I take the front wheels off as the brakes are squeeking anyway. I thought it could possibly be the brakes stuck on ever so slightly! Thanks for the input yous

Could be the PCV valve? Is it definitely coming from the engine bay??
