Skoda Superb Sportline MK3 MY19

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I can't find a post giving me the info I'm looking for.

I currently have a MK3 Sportline on order for January delivery. Currently being manufactured.

What are the standard head lights/DRL like? What is the beam range like and do they have the LED "eyelashes" on the light fixture? And information and pictures would be greatly appreciated. Also, any info on the standard kit would be brilliant!!

The brochures/books provide little information and are hard read through I find

You will have Bi-Xenon headlights with LED DRLs, but no eyelashes unless you went for the £960 option of SLA

I have the SLA and love the way they are constantly adjusting whilst driving.

The Xenons are OK, but certainly not the best on the market (our Yeti with Bi-Xenons was FAR better)

Thanks for quick response! Finally someone who can give me an answer. I have an Octavia RS MK3 at present, only extra I put on the Sportline was the virtual cockpit. The lights on the Octavia are good but dipped beams are very short range.

Have you any pics of your lights? Just for comparison to the standard bixenon.

Wonder if SLA can be retrofitted. I was told mine has gone to the stage of manufacture that nothing can be changed.

This is what the SLA would look like:

Ah yes I see. Thank you very much! Love the colour!

Thanks

As for retro-fitting, well yes it’s possible but they are different headlights, controller, possibly extra wiring, so expect a couple of grand to retro-fit them!

I have a 2018MY Sportline with bi-xenons and previously the Octavia vRS with bi-xenons, the Superb's are far superior, much improved from those on the Octavia

Thanks for info!! Do you have Adaptive Front Light on your Sportline? There are so many systems to get your head around.

My Octavia RS just has not standard bi xenon, low beams are very short. They swivel around the corners but no foglight feature.

Any pictures of your lights so I can compare with Gizmos?

it will b exactly the same - minus the whiskers lit up.

all mk3 bi-xenon headlights look exactly the same, when not switched on.
if u have SLA headlights - u'll get DRLs plus whiskers

if u have non-SLA (like most of us do) - u'll get DRLs with no active whiskers.

the mk3 Superb gets AFS1 adaptive headlights.

Hi Guys,

I will use this topic as i have one question regarding these "whiskers". I have the SLA - and it works great. But what exactly is the main purpose of these whiskers ? I see them light up when i start the lights of the car - they are pretty nice. I also see the "dancing lights" while they calibrate on start-up. But i think this dancing light is made from the D3S xenons - with some lens inside, but not from these whiskers. Do they actually light up steadily and just shine - and the Xenon is making the dimming and the whole effect of the SLA ? Or these whiskers also project lights - and make the whole "magic" ?

The whiskers r just like the DRL stripe.

They r not designed to project light, nor can they.

They r designed to make the headlights look good, and act as a DRL too :)

I don't know if they switch off or dim (like the DRL) when the low beams r turned on.

Comparing the Bi-Xenon headlights from my 2015 Octavia Vrs to the Adaptive LED headlights on my 2017 FL Octavia Vrs the latter are much better and one of the reasons I chose it over a 280 Superb as they were standard and not an expensive option.

  • 2 weeks later...

I believe the whiskers are actually classed as the side lights...
