Fabia 1.4 New To Me 2001 auto

Featured Replies

Hi all, Ive had the car about 2 wks and it runs beautifully, until today. just wont start and I dont know much about it. Asking for help please. have a code reader and the codes are as follows;-

17523,17525, 17645, 17646, 17647, 177648 and 17833.

I know that the middle ones  ie 17645 to 17648 refer to injector circuit open circuit the last one is tank valve short to ground and the first two are o2 sensor related. At the moment, I have no idea where to start, so any assistance would be gratefully recieved. Thanks in advance Mick

Have a look at fuse 35 in the fuseholder at the end of the dashboard.

Thank you, I will look in the morning

No problem.

That fuse supplies all four injectors, so is the simplest explanation for them all showing as not connected.

Why the fuse blew, if it has, is another matter.

Have a look under the engine cover at the injector wiring just above the intake manifold, see if anything looks broken/touching something it shouldn't.

With a 2001 car, I'd think "old age" for a blown fuse. If the replacement promptly blows too, then there's a problem.

Thanks to all for your help, fuse 35 was not blown but the pins were coated in a brown glaze. I cleaned the muck off and plugged it into my reader and NO CODES shown started i`st touch ,then again 3 times ,so i hope that that was the problem.

Hi all, car has run fine for 2 days, this morning same trouble and codes. Does anyone know where I can find an engine wiring harness diagram so I can check the harness. thanks  Mick

You can pay (7 euros plus tax) to download the circuit diagrams from erWin Skoda.

All the items showing faults are fed via 3 different fuses from the fuel pump relay, which should be in position 12  (position 4 if your car was built in or after July 2001) of your relay panel in the cabin (behind lower dash trim approx in front of your right knee when driving). Fuse 24 feeds the purge valve, fuse 35 the injectors and fuse 9 the oxygen sensor heaters. Fuel pump itself looks like the only other thing fed by that relay via fuse 61. Check all those as a first step, then consider swapping in another fuel pump relay, maybe?

Note that from July 2001 the fuel pump relay became a simple 4-pin type, where before that it had a few more pins and had some extra circuitry inside; so find it and see which you have before acquiring another to try.

cleaned all relevant fuses but it did the fail to start thing , so I hit it under the steering wheel and it started. so I removed the lower cowl and the large relay was loose. took it out cleaned the contacts and put it back firmly and for the last 5 times it has started. I will keep an eye on it to see if the problem re occurs. thanks again for your help Mick
