Pleasant insurance surprise, post remap

Featured Replies

I recently had a stage 1 Revo remap added to my vRS (Which I'm very pleased with by the way).

I was insured with Quote Me Happy (Aviva).  Went online to update my policy and was surprised to find an option about remaps.  Chose the appropriate option, clicked update, and then it said they could not insure the car.

Searched a couple of contact-them-direct websites, which all came in around the £500 to £600 mark.  Then I went on money supermarket and LV came it at £20 less than my current insurance.  I chose a couple of other options (like having a similar sized car rather than something tiddly I can't fit in), and the net result is my insurance has gone up by £10 to £360pa.  This is with 9+ years protected, 6 points and of course the remap.

I was expecting the remap to make a significant difference to my insurance, but it hasn't and I could have actually reduced my premium.  An odd, but nonetheless pleasant surprise.

Hi,

You would be surprised the amount of times where a modified risk is actually cheaper to insurer than the standard equivalent.

Regards,

Dan.
