Amundsen Bluetooth quality

Featured Replies

Rang the wife on the way home from picking up the new car the other week and thought she had a problem with her end as the sound quality was rubbish.

Had to turn it up to 75%+ and it was tinny.

Today I was streaming music via Bluetooth and the same happened.

My amundesen in my MY17 sounded great and the only thing has changed is the new car?

Dab, FM etc sounds fine though.

From what device are you streaming from?

If it's Android there's a trick.

There's a setting for Bluetooth volume level and there's 3 options. Might be worth amending this if you had to turn it up loads just to get a reasonable sound level.

Apart from that I can't see why there would be any difference in sound quality. I regularly steam to my Columbus + Canton and it sounds rather good.

I had a butchers in the menus and on my phone but everything else equal with no changes the only difference was the car between my MY17 and MY19 amundesen

If you have an Android Phone (it has to be a relatively new one), go Settings - About Phone - Software Information - Build Number.

Tap Build Number approximately 6 times, if you have done it right it will say "Developer Mode Enabled", go back to the main setting screen and scroll down and you should find a new category available "Developer Options".

Tap it, scroll down and you should find the following:

1. Bluetooth AVRCP Version

2. Bluetooth Audio Codec

3. Bluetooth Audio Audio Sample Rate

4. Bluetooth Audio Bits Per Sample

5. Bluetooth Audio Channel Mode

6. Bluetooth Audio LDAC Codec:

Try:

1: AVRCP 1.5

2: Try any of them apart from SBC

3. 44.1 kHz (or whatever your music was converted at)

4. 24 bits (or whatever your music was converted at)

5: Stereo

6: Balanced Audio/Connection Quality (660 kbps/606 kbps)

Close and then then connect to audio system and see if you get anywhere.

NB: These settings will reset to default if you restart your phone.

Cheers mate, will give that's go!

I should point out that it's a 50/50 chance, that those options will appear.

I have a Galaxy S8+ and I believe that they'll appear on most 2016 Androids on Android 7.0 onward.

I've got a pixel so should be ok but I didn't have to do any of this in my last Octavia which had the same system with exception to the display if I recall correctly.

It’s a different system entirely, it’s not just the display that’s different, but the display is indeed backward compatible to a degree (the APP button doesn’t work).

Seems it's not just affecting Bluetooth, but playing anything via USB too.

At first I thought it was the quality of the mp3's however there are loads on my phone that were played on my previous car.

Rear speakers are noticably quieter - changed the fader to the rear of the car and it sounded a lot worse.

Got it booked in after the new year.

There was only two speaker options wasn't there? Standard and Canton?

Soooo, I'm an idiot although there is still something wrong.

Decided to have another play and somehow missed the Bluetooth audio volume option that was set to quiet :/

Now sounds perfect but when listening to music from USB, there isn't an option however when pressing the max switch on volume option it immediately sounds amazing until I click back?

Hopefully close to solving this. Should I just turn the volume down and crank that max vol up?

This was my first thought when you described it.  Most android phones you should turn the volume up to at least 80%.  Some change the equaliser to more top end if at max volume hence the 80%.  Doubt the pixel is one though so crank it up to max and control the volume with the car.

Edit: Not sure on the usb bit.  never used it myself.

Just to clarify, the volume on my phone when streaming via Bluetooth is at max. :)

Hello guys, I am new here (in the forum, Skoda and new cars in general). I saw this topic while searching in Google for a problem I have. The problem is the following:

When I use Source of Media Bluetooth, the sound quality and/or the volume is greater than the music streamed via Android Auto, a.k.a. option APP from the infotainment (Amundsen, if this makes any difference). I would appreciate it if someone could help me with this.
