07 Fab mk1 1.9tdi combi/estate RARB

Featured Replies

Hi there all,

ive a fab mk1 combi tdi 07.

Has/does anyone know if the rear anti roll bars that are commonly available for the hatch will fit the combi/ estate version?

thanks in advance

Yes, the rear torsion beam is the same so they will fit

Do they have rear anti roll bars? Is it a part of rear axle? They will be different on VRS only but can be fitted to estate.

Thanks for info, just that in the listings of adverts selling them , it doesn’t state if it does fit. But as if you say the rear torsion beam is the same then I have no worries about purchasing one.

Not not sure if they are fitted as standard, not had chance to get underneath, as I understand I thought it had just a front one

Which-ever one you get consider carefully.

I wouldn't suggest one of the stiffer/thicker ones if the suspension is is not lowered. Whiteline is probably the best option in that case.

Conversely, If it's track-day hard or race stiff, don't get a skinny one. Jabba or thicker or it won't really have an effect.

I have the Jabba on a 1" lowered car running Eibach springs and uprated dampers. It's a good balance. I have to fit good quality rear tyres though (actually, the wet weather performance of the rears has to equal or better the fronts.). Especially in mucky weather. It can go pear shaped very quickly despite the front end feeling fantastic.

Hi there, I’ve seen the white line as a kit, with both front & rear.

Was gonna go down the route of g4 billys, vrs springs & f&r arb. Sticking to 15” atm got my winters on. Then maybe some 16” for the summer with some rain sport 3’s on. But was contemplating getting some othe 15” for summer , because the tyres are way cheaper when you stay at 15”. I mean there are plenty of options on the 15” , even if you just stick to vag oem wheels of sorts. ( a quick refurb in gun metal grey soon alters your perception)

am I also right in asssuming that the vrs oem springs are lower than the other models?

not wanting to go too low, plenty of speed humps in the roads where I live, not pleasant when ya scrape over them

thanks for reply’s guys :)

I've not read/heard of that combination. It seems a bit of a mess. VRS front end is a lot heavier (gearbox) than the 5 speed. The back end is utterly different in terms of weight distribution. So you will end up with harder front suspension that's about OEM height and possibly, worse rear. Biilstein B4 are OEM equivalents and not specified for lowered or sports suspension.

Just had a quick look at some available springs.... "AP" and "ST by KW"  (and Eibach) list different kits for VRS vs non VRS TDIs. Rather than the others that seem offer the same kit for all 6Y Fabias. To me that implies they've thought and optimised it a bit more.

If you want it to handle, also fit sports dampers or throw at least a mid-range coilovers set at it plus the RARB. AP's suspension kit is £290ish, Whiteline RARB is £150ish.

Alternative to stiffen it up is to simply add Whiteline F&R ARBs. That won't help stance/height (if that's a thing) or any forward leaning/diving/rotation under braking. Also much easier to fit.

Thanks for all your input, it is appreciated. I think I’ll go for the f&r arb kit. Like you mentioned the whiteline brand have a kit.

After fitting them I’ll see if I need any further suspension additions. I think mainly I’m trying to stiffen it up.

Cheers all :)
