Noise on full lock

Featured Replies

When I turn my steering wheel full lock (either way but predominantly to the right) I get a horrible noise that dissapears again as soon as the wheels begin to straighten up.

Any ideas on what this could be?

I had a replacement wheel bearing under warranty some 8,000 miles ago on the NSF could it of gone again?

Thanks, the car seems to drive ok...

Are you holding the wheel at full lock so its on the stops?? If so its probably the power steering straining. ;)

It's only started recently though mate, not sure if it's anything to worry about. But 1,000 miles ago it didn't do it.

Yep I would have thought it was the power steering pump too. Does it happen when you turn full lock both ways? :D

Does it happen when stationary? Have you had any suspension work done recently?

I have replaced the NSF wheel arch liner at the weekend so had the wheel off but other than that nothing.

I know a pump for radiator & rear washer jet was replaced under warranty 2 weeks ago and I had the NSF fog light replaced so the bumper will of been off the car.

Eibach's have been on for 1 year now on standard dampers - never touched them, got JBS to fit them.

I suppose the noise is more of a knocking/rubbing noise only when at full lock when going less than sort of 5-10 mph.

And the arch liner isnt rubbing on the wheel?

SAo it doesnt do it when stationary and moving the wheel

I'll try this on my lunch Ross and get back to you.

I don't think it's the wheel arch because it was making the same noise a month ago, I just chose to ignore it at the time.
