Who turned out the lights?

:woohoo:

:woot:

ABS & ASR warning lights are OUT! Bit of re-soldering done. ;) Car should now fly through its imminent MOT

Its been a very productive 24 hours. ;)

What was the cause of the lights?

Dodgy DIY wiring.

Dodgy DIY wiring.

And cured with dodgy DIY rewiring ;)

I had always assumed it to be the sensor or the plug on the right rear, but voltage check found it to be all OK. But we pulled apart from the join, and it was a little dodgy, perhaps put together in a rather rushed solution to the problem of the new loom having a smashed plug. :(

Well, a proper reattaching and wrapping, the light went out, And then my mate accompanied me out on the road armed with his snap-on vehicle scanner plugged into the OBD2 port, to monitor any reoccuring fault codes. Thankfully the ABS & ASR never did, and I gave them a thorough trial (first time in 6 months+ :D)

Engine light is still on (theories as to how to make that feck off....)

Airbag light is still on (deliberate)

Squares of black electrical tape should sort that :D

Plug in VAG-COM and see what it says ;)

Wont the car fail the mot with the airbag light on?.

does the abs/asr actually work then or is it just the lights which no longer come on?

Not an MOT factor. ;) I've done my research.

Phil. Thankfully I had Mr Snap-on to do scans this morning. Still a few faults there that I had before, but surprisngly curing that ABS wiring issue solved quite a few fault codes relating to ABS control unit / traction control, etc.

Anyway, that laptop still isn't working with its new screen. The screen powers up but I fear I may dislodged something inside. So I'm calling it quits and handing it over to a PC techie mate to take a look at for me. :D He reckons the RAM may have come loose, as I described the symptoms.

Edit for Hellfire: OH yes. ;) I got that triangle flashing a good'un this morning. Nice to have traction control again to be honest, same with ABS.

So how many faults still to resolve and do you know whats needed to fix em' all?

Pretty much - airbags require an intact, unactivated vRS airbag controller. Probably as rare as rocking horse crap, as they tend to get sold in airbag packages with the two airbags and seatbelt pretensioners, etc. :(

EGR fault requires the EGR trick to do, as featured on Briskoda. That "might" solve the CEL situation. Aside from that - Its pretty much spot on. I just get a permanent CAN-BUS error intermittent thing come up, which I'm not sure about - It was there before the conversion, and never made any lights come on. :)
